Clavis & Claustra ~ Hex Tote

Cat founded Clavis & Claustra in 2015 after returning home to Yorkshire, inspired by its hills, mills, and bracing northern winters. After a career in publishing in Oxford and London, Cat sought a new challenge: creating products that champion equality and diversity from the ground up—beautiful things made by a feminist for feminists.

With a lifelong passion for history—not the tales of kings and conquests, but the defiant women who challenged societal expectations—Cat imagined their voices in today’s world. What would Elizabeth I post on Instagram? How would accused witches clap back on Twitter? 

A self-confessed stationery addict, Cat began designing her own “armour,” drawing inspiration from beloved history books, university novels, and modern social justice movements. The result? Unique creations to celebrate the rebels in your life—or to keep as a personal reminder of courage and resistance.

I personally purchased this exact tote 3 years ago in a small gift shop in Haworth, Yorkshire and its been a treasured favourite ever since.
